IIP - Permanent Full-Time Employees Who Were Previously Part-Timers

At the GMM last night, there was a question raised about the IIP entitlement for a permanent full-time employee. Specifically, it was asked if an employee was a permanent part-time employee and is now a permanent full-time employee and elects to transfer to the IIP, what determines the range within which an employee falls on the IIP chart and the percentage of IIP hours/weeks calculated at either 100% or 75%.

For clarification: The range within which a full-time employee falls in the IIP chart (which determines the number of IIP hours/weeks either 100% or 75%) is determined by an employee’s completed years of service, regardless of whether he/she worked as a permanent part-time employee. For example, if an employee worked as a permanent part-time employee for three years at TPL and then works another three years as a permanent full-time employee, he/she will have completed six years of service and be entitled to 12 IIP weeks at 100% and 14 IIP weeks at 75%.

The special payout is also based on years of service for all eligible employees (and not on seniority).

The Union has spoken with Management on this issue and clarified the above shared understanding between the parties.
