The Toronto Public Library Workers Union had one of the hottest booths at last Sunday's Word on the Street. Hundreds of Torontonians lined up to purchase union tote bags and t-shirts, described by the Toronto Star as "the chic accessories of the festival." While citizens continued to sign the petition and pick up buttons and bookmarks, they offered support and congratulations for the union's efforts to protect our public library. We even got some reference questions! It was a wonderful, sunny day - and a celebration for book lovers, library workers, and Toronto.
