Further Cuts to Public Library Voted Down by City Council

Ford and his shrinking number of supporters failed to ram through a City budget full of cuts to services and programs.  Finally, the Ford administration was forced to listen to the people of Toronto who have consistently opposed these cuts aimed at the City's most vulnerable.

Library Board member Cllr Janet Davis presented over 55,000 petitions to save the library against further cuts.  Cllr Davis, along with Board member Cllr Sarah Doucette, have been staunch public library defenders.

Cllr Raymond Cho put forward a motion to prevent further cuts to the public library beyond the 5.9% cuts offered up by the City Librarian.  Cllr Cho's motion passed to huge cheers and applause from the crowd.

Shockingly, Library Board Chair, Cllr Paul Ainslie and Library Board members Cllr Jaye Robinson and Cllr Cesar Palacio voted AGAINST Cllr Cho's motion to prevent further cuts to the library.
