To All Local 4948 Library Workers:
On behalf of the TPLWU Local 4948 Bargaining Committee, I am pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement with the Toronto Public Library Board.
Our public campaign for good jobs and fairer treatment of part-time workers, along with an overwhelming strike mandate from you, the members, has produced an agreement we think addresses all of our major issues.
Stay tuned in the coming days for further information including announcments of the times, dates, and locations of ratification meetings.
Rob Rolfe, President, Local 4948

I would like to thank all library workers on behalf of the Bargaining Committee for their tremendous support during this process.
We have achieved an historic agreement that addresses the major issues of concern in our workplaces today (full employment, part-time benefits, violence, career opportunities and job specialization and much more) and provides a strong base for all public library workers across Ontario to move forward collectively.
Thanks to the Strike Committee lead by Paul, Eliseo and Jinkie and joined by the hard work of Jimmy, Brian R., Clifford, Jimmy, Dulce, Russell, Mary, Miro, Doug, John, Nicole, Joanna, Lilian, Alessya, Bert, and many others.
A special thanks to our Political Action Committee and their “Flying Squad” who did an exceptionally fine job in mobilizing the public in support of our cause. Your enthusiasm and commitment was a true inspiration. Thanks to Campaign Champions Neil and Savio and their team, Jonathon, Stephanie, Caterina, Rebecca, Nalini, Sheldon, Sandy A., and many others.
This past June, OPSEU LCBO workers also lead a successful strike aversion campaign over good jobs. Thanks to Vanda Klumper, Bargaining Committee Chair, who shared her experiences with us, provided her leadership and joined library workers on our information pickets.
On a personal note, my thanks to the Bargaining Committee for their relentless pursuit of the right stuff and their ability to survive the basement bunker in one piece!
Maureen O'Reilly, Chair, TPLWU Bargaining Committee
