Clarification for Permanent Part-Time Employees Hired Prior to November 11, 2009

This question has been received by the Union - please see the clarification below:

Q: I am a permanent part-time employee and plan on being full-time in the future.  How will my choice now affect my future sick bank leave entitlement as a full-time employee?

A: Permanent part-time employees hired prior to November 11, 2009, you have two options:

1. Choose to go into the IIP for permanent part-time employees.  If you become a permanent full-time employee in the future, you will remain in the IIP for the rest of your employment with the Toronto Public Library.

2. Choose to stay in the Sick Leave Plan in which case you will receive 6% in lieu as a permanent part-time employee.  If you become a permanent full-time employee in the future, you will move to the cumulative sick leave plan (one and a half days for each month of service, cumulative, sick pay gratuity equal to salary or wages for one half the number of days in your bank to the maximum of six calendar months with at least 25 years of service).
