Branch Closures

In the past, when a branch closed for renovations requiring the temporary relocation of staff, the employer has honoured approved annual vacation requests and hours of work schedules.

In 2010, the employer continues to honour approved vacation requests submitted by February 7.   However, the union has discovered that the employer will no longer approve any vacation requests submitted by staff after this date prior to their arrival at their temporary location.  As we all know, branch closures are announced well in advance of an employee's actual start date at a new location.

In addition, current hours of work schedules may not be honoured either when you are temporarily located.

The Union has told the employer this may create hardship for our members. The employer continues to maintain their position.  The Union will certainly keep this issue on file for the next round of collective bargaining.
