Summer Contest

Summer Union T-Shirt Contest!

This contest is open to any Local 4948 bargaining unit member.  Email the correct answers to the following questions and your name will be entered in a draw to win a Local 4948 t-shirt for your entire branch or dept.  All answers must be received before Labour Day (September 6, 2010). 

1. Name the actor who played corrupt union boss Johnny Friendly in a 1954 film classic.

2. Name the actress who starred in a film based on the life of Crystal Lee Jordan, a textile worker who fought to unionize her factory. (Hint: we really, really, like her.)

3. Name the recently-disgraced actor who portrayed a farmer in a 1983 film in which he crosses a picket line of striking steel workers. (Hint: we really, really don’t like him.)

4. Name the children’s picture book in which a herd of cows go on strike to fight for better working conditions. (Hint: the duck is sent to mediate.)

6. Name the porous cartoon character who goes on strike after his boss cuts wages for ‘lollygagging.’
