Read a Library Journal article on Gov. Jerry Brown's bill to limit Library Systems and Services (LSSI)'s ability to privitize public libraries. LSSI's CEO is quoted as being quite "disappointed" with this legislation. Unlike our Canadian counterparts, the ALA (American Library Association) has been active fighting to preserve public libraries and public library services. Read about it here.
